Special Needs Swimming Lessons
MoovSwim has AUSTSWIM-certified instructors for conducting swimming lessons of aquatics – access and inclusion, simply known as swimming lessons for the special needs. In particular, we have 10 years of experience in helping children with autism and people with physical disabilities enjoy themselves in water!
At MoovSwim, we create a reassuring, fun and calm environment for our swimmers to enjoy themselves in water safely. Our swimming lessons cater to the needs of each child and devise personalised plans for the individual to meet specific challenges. Through toys and games, we inculcate the notion of water safety and instill water confidence in our swimmers with lots of fun.
Our aquatic program at MoovSwim aims to
ease repetitive behaviours through the gentle, soothing environment of water
instill a sense of water safety and awareness, as drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death
act as a social outlet to enjoy parallel play at the child’s own pace
For children on the autism spectrum, the water on the body has a calming effect and reduces any enervating noises. Swimming is a gentle sport that emphasises on repetitive motion, a main avenue of learning for children with special needs. Children learn to receive clear instructions on a frequent basis and are given opportunities to carry out tasks.
According to the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF), swimming lessons can help children improve speech, coordination, social skills, self-esteem, and cognitive processing. Under MoovSwim’s swimming lessons, many children have grown and blossomed, and this continues to motivate us in our pursuit to provide an alternative avenue for therapy for these children.
